Frequently Asked Questions
And the frequent answers we give.
Can I work with you if I’m not in Seattle?
Absolutely! We’re a digital studio that works with small businesses from all over. We handle everything via emails, Asana, and Dubsado and prefer video chat to phone calls (but we’re flexible). But if you’re in the Seattle area we would love to meet up in person too!
What are your office hours?
Mon — Thu • 10 am — 3 pm PST
If needed, client calls can be scheduled outside of business hours with at least 24 hour notice. We strive to respond to all emails within 1 business day and promise to not be MIA for more than 3 business days.
I don’t need any strategy, I just need a logo, can you do that?
The short answer is no.
A logo without strategy is just a pretty picture, and that’s not what fuels our creativity.
BUT! There is always the exception to the rule, so if you already have a well-defined brand (i.e. you went through the discovery & brand development process with someone else), we can use all of that info to base your brand identity off of and speed up the process a bit. There’s no need to do the same work twice, but we do still need to create that brand identity strategy so there’s a clear understanding behind the design choices.
Can you build me a Wordpress website?
We specialize in designing & building Squarespace websites, because of their incredible ease of use and minimal maintenance required. But we also understand that it’s not the right platform for every project or business.
Wordpress and other website platforms are a whole different beast that we don’t have the resources to accommodate right now. But if you have a web developer who you work with, we’re more than happy to create the website design for you and work with your developer to have them build it on your preferred platform.
How do I know if we’re a good fit?
Excellent question! The best way to tell is to take a look at our portfolio and also read through our process. The portfolio will give you a good sense of our style and the process will help you understand our workflow and collaboration methods. For instance, if you don’t want to do any client homework or you’re not interested in giving thoughtful & constructive feedback, then we may not be a great fit.
If you’ve looked through everything but you’re still unsure or you have some unanswered questions, we’d love for us to talk about it. You can schedule a free consult and we can chat on the phone (or video chat), or you can always just send us an email. Either way, we’d love to hear more about you & your business!
How soon can you start?
Honestly, it depends on the season. But one of the perks of working with a one-gal shop is that we’re pretty flexible.
We take on a limit number of clients each month to ensure that we can give the proper attention to every project, but also so that we can have a bit of breathing room and the space to shift projects around if needed.
What are your rates?
How does payment work?
The total cost is split into two (2) payments, the first due before the project can begin and the final due at project completion, but before the final files are delivered. If the project has a longer timeline (more than 1 month) or you request a different structure, we’re happy to split payments into 3 or 4 installments.
Regardless of the number of payments, we always require a 50% non-refundable deposit before a project can begin.
Also, if you’d like to pay in full upfront we offer a 5% discount off the total cost.
We accept ACH bank payments and credit card payments via Stripe. Checks, cash, and money orders are not accepted.
Why don’t you let me choose from your different idea sketches?
Instead of overwhelming you with a lot of different half-baked ideas, we prefer to present a cohesive brand design concept (called the “one concept method”) that walks you through the entire brand identity to demonstrate how it aligns with your specific strategy. This way you can better visualize how all of the brand elements will work together across all mediums (website, social media, packaging, etc.) to achieve your business goals.
Ok, that sounds scary. What if I want to see more options or make changes to the concept?
You know what they say, right? If it wasn’t scary, everyone would do it. 😉
But seriously, we don’t do the one concept method to scare you. We understand you may have a lot of ideas and you’re hesitant to commit to just any one of them. That’s why we include 2 rounds of our revision process, which include guiding you through providing thoughtful feedback and making adjustments to any elements in the concept as necessary.
And if you need more than 2 rounds of revision, we can always add on additional rounds at our hourly rate of $100.
If I don’t like what you design, can I get a refund?
The initial 50% deposit is non-refundable, however if at any point in the process you feel that things are just not working out we encourage you to let us know, so we can have an honest discussion about options. If we both feel it’s right, we can part ways with no remainder due and we’ll deliver all assets that we have created up to that point. My primary goal as a business owner is that you’re happy with your experience working with us and we’ll do everything we can to make it enjoyable.
Can you help me to get everything printed?
Of course! If we’re working on a project with print collateral, we’re happy to assist in order to ensure the final product is everything you imagined. If you need printer recommendations, we have a few we can refer you to.
And if you already have a preferred printer, you can put us in touch and we’ll work with them directly.
What if I need more graphic design work after our project is complete?
This is something that we handle on a case by case basis, but for existing clients we do offer monthly retainer services of up to 10 hours per month for 3, 6, or 9 month periods.
What’s up with switching between I and We all the time?
We like to bend the rules to make life a little more fun for everyone. ✌️
It’s just me, Elissa, on the business-y side of things over here 👋, but everywhere else, that’s a team effort. The work that is done is a collaboration, whether it’s with clients, peers, followers, or partners. It’s more than any one person. And I think that’s truly what it means to be community. We’re all contributing, even if it’s something as simple as clicking a like button. We’re all a part of this. 🧡
